Asher James: Five Months

From day one Asher has been a sweet baby, if someone is holding him he is happy, but with each months that passes he gets sweeter and sweeter. When he reaches out to hold my cheek my heart melts. He is for sure, another mamas boy, can't say that I mind ;) That smile; it stops me in my tracks and probably always will.

This month he has mastered sitting on his own. He wants nothing to do with lying down as he can't see what Chase is up to. I could watch them play together all day. Their favorite game is for Chase to laugh at Asher and Asher to laugh back at him, repeat, for about 20 mins. Love it!

Asher started solids this month. I was trying to hold off until closer to 6 months but little man wanted food asap. On Valentines day he was served his first meal, a bowl of avocado. I'm not sure how much he enjoyed the avocado, but was super excited to be getting something other than formula. Since then he has also eaten green beans, apples, banana and oatmeal. He is his father's son and eats whatever is put in front of him.

We had a rough patch when it comes to sleep. He didn't want the swaddle but also wasn't ready to have his arms free as he would wave them around and wake up. After hours of researching what is out there we found a new sleep sack and that seems to have solved the issue. Thank goodness as I was not enjoying being up every hour, or sometimes just up all night, to then run around after a 2 year old and take care of Asher the next day. Once that awful time in our lives was over he decided he didn't need me to rock him to sleep anymore. Just place in crib with paci and out like a light.

Life with Asher is amazing, it seems like he has always been here and a part of our family. Nothing beats all 4 of us sitting reading stories or singing songs. That is when things feel "just right".
